Ashigaru - foot soldiers of lower rank. Most of the Japanese infantry were just ashigaru receiving weapons and armor from the overlord, they served. One type of so-called "lent armor" were cheap folding armor (tatami w), consisting of rectangular metal plates or leather sewn to the base cloth. The gaps were filled with chain mail mesh and plate covered themselves in black or red lacquer. The set includes a helmet and such a folding structure (tatami kabuto). To protect the neck he had a simple design nazatylnika (shikoro).
A typical piece of equipment were ashigaru distinctive flags (sashimono), mounted on the back of the armor. On sashimono usually depicted crest (mon) overlord, and the color could indicate an affiliation to a particular military unit. Of weapons - steam "lent swords" (okasam GATA) and lance embodiment (Jari) with two transverse blades of different lengths (katakama-Jari).
